Treaty Club Winners in Banner

There was double success for Kildimo Youth Club at an interclub indoor football tournament held at Clonlara Community Centre, Co. Clare recently.

Hosted by Clonlara Youth Club, the tournament saw young people from both youth clubs take part in a highly competitive tournament.

New Ability Programme


A new programme that will support young people with disabilities to access education and training opportunities and/or enter employment has been launched by Limerick Youth Service (LYS).

The Ability Programme will also support young people (15-24yrs) with disabilities to develop personally, economically and socially while encouraging them to get involved with community life.

It’s Youth Factor Time

The stage awaits


Limerick Youth Service’s annual Youth Factor will take place at the Millennium Theatre, Limerick Institute of Technology on Saturday, March 9th.

The Youth Factor, one of the most popular events in the calendar, will see young people participate in the following categories: dance, solo music/song, band/group and drama/performance.

New Youth Project in Ballycummin/Raheen

Shelly Goggin & Gordon Winthorp, Ballycummin Detached Youth Work Project

A new detached youth work project in Ballycummin and the surrounding areas has been launched by Limerick Youth Service (LYS).

The Ballycummin Detached Youth Work Project will see youth workers engage with young people on Friday evenings in the Raheen, Mungret, Dooradoyle and Ballycummin communities.

Nicholas St Youth Space

Young people, volunteers, neighbours and representatives from local schools and organisations dropped by Limerick Youth Service’s newly refurbished youth space in King’s Island on recently.

Located in the heart of Limerick’s Medieval Quarter, Nicholas St Youth Space is home to a number of youth clubs/projects with new ventures on the horizon.

Minister Launches Counselling Video

Minister for Mental Health, Jim Daly TD was at Limerick Youth Service this past week where he presented members of the youth organisation with an Investing in Children Membership Award and launched a video called ‘What is Counselling?’

Minister of State for Mental Health, Jim Daly TD will present an Investing in Children Award to young people with Limerick Youth Service (LYS) on Tuesday, January 22nd at Lava Java Youth Café, Lr. Glenworth St, Limerick from 11a-12pm.

Limerick to Mexico for the World Cup

‘Two years ago I was on the streets homeless and I never thought I would be going to Mexico representing my country, scoring goals for my country.’

The emotional words from Diarmuid O’Connor, a young man from Portlaoise who recently represented the Republic of Ireland at the Homeless World Cup  in Mexico.

Craig Honoured at Garda Youth Awards

Craig O’Brien, a volunteer with St. Patrick’s Youth Club and a Munster representative on the British Irish Parliamentary Assembly, was honoured at the recent Garda Youth Awards at the Woodlands Hotel, Adare, Co. Limerick.

Top Marks for Hayleigh

Hayleigh Nugent, a student from Garryowen who achieved the top marks in this year’s Leaving Cert Applied (LCA), was presented with the Fergal Quinn Award at the Leaving Cert Applied National Conference in Athlone recently.

Hayleigh, who got 98% in the exam was joined at the LCA National Conference by her family and staff from Limerick Youth Service where she studied.
