Limerick Youth Service Welcome An Bord Pleanála Decision

Limerick Youth Service is thrilled with the decision by An Bord Pleanála to support the development of a dedicated Youth Space in Ballynanty.

‘We recognise the need for this Youth Space and the positive contribution it will make to the city’s northside communities,’ said Catherine Kelly, Director, Limerick Youth Service.

Kitty Dwane & Paul Kiely

June sees the retirement of two of Limerick Youth Service’s best known members,  Kitty Dwane and Paul Kiely.

Both, who have been a part of LYS for decades, were honoured at LYS’s recent Celebration of Volunteering evening.

Speaking to a packed gathering Catherine Kelly, Director, LYS, paid tribute to Kitty and Paul and their commitment to Limerick’s young people.

Traveller Pride Week at The Factory

Over 100 Members of the Traveller Community from Limerick city sites and its environs gathered at The Factory: Southside Youth Space, Limerick, recently for an evening of celebration as part of Traveller Pride Week.

The festivities mixed fun and entertainment with information and awareness stands aimed at all members of the Travelling Community.

Launch of Ger McDonnell Memorial Cycle 2013

The annual Ger McDonnell Memorial Cycle was officially launched by Deputy Mayor of Limerick, Cllr. Maira Byrne, at Limerick Youth Service’s 40th anniversary celebration at the Clarion Hotel, Limerick on Friday last, May 24th.

A Celebration of Volunteering

Limerick Youth Service is invited all volunteers, past and present, to a Celebration of Volunteering at the Clarion Hotel, Steamboat Quay, Limerick on Friday next, May 24th at 7:30pm.

‘Volunteers have been at the core of our charity since Sr. Joan founded LYS 40 years ago,’ said Catherine Kelly, Director, LYS.

Ger McDonnell Memorial Cycle 2013

Mayor of Limerick, Cllr. Gerry McLoughlin, will officially launch the Ger McDonnell Memorial Cycle 2013 at the Clarion Hotel, Steamboat Quay, Limerick next, May 24th at 7:30pm.

The cycle, which will take place on Saturday, 27th July at 9:00am, is dedicated to the memory of Ger McDonnell the first Irishman to climb K2, the second highest mountain on Earth.

Aint No Mountain High Enough for Northside Youth

Young people from Limerick Youth Service’s Northside Youth Cafe and Ballynanty Garda Youth Diversion Project conquered one of Ireland’s most famous peaks, Croagh Patrick recently.

The climb was inspired by members of the Northside Youth Cafe who scaled Croagh Patrick as part of last year’s Four Peak Challenge where members of the Youth Cafe climbed four of Ireland’s tallest mountains.

Mayor Honours Team Ballynanty

Seven young people from Ballynanty had their success on the football field recognised by the Mayor of Limerick, Cllr. Gerry McLoughlin on Tuesday last, May 14th.

The northside natives, who are members of Limerick Youth Service’s Ballynanty Garda Youth Diversion Project, triumphed at a recent Soccer/futsal tournament hosted at LYS’s Southside Youth Space, the Factory.

Volunteer Evening & Launch of Ger McDonnell Memorial Cycle

Friday, May 24th promises to be a busy evening for Limerick Youth Serve (LYS) as it hosts a special 40th anniversary gathering for volunteers and launches the Ger McDonnell Memorial Cycle 2013 at the Clarion Hotel, Steamboat Quay, Limerick at 7:30pm.
