Ger McDonnell Memorial Cycle 2013

Mayor of Limerick, Cllr. Gerry McLoughlin, will officially launch the Ger McDonnell Memorial Cycle 2013 at the Clarion Hotel, Steamboat Quay, Limerick next, May 24th at 7:30pm.

The cycle, which will take place on Saturday, 27th July at 9:00am, is dedicated to the memory of Ger McDonnell the first Irishman to climb K2, the second highest mountain on Earth.

Aint No Mountain High Enough for Northside Youth

Young people from Limerick Youth Service’s Northside Youth Cafe and Ballynanty Garda Youth Diversion Project conquered one of Ireland’s most famous peaks, Croagh Patrick recently.

The climb was inspired by members of the Northside Youth Cafe who scaled Croagh Patrick as part of last year’s Four Peak Challenge where members of the Youth Cafe climbed four of Ireland’s tallest mountains.

Mayor Honours Team Ballynanty

Seven young people from Ballynanty had their success on the football field recognised by the Mayor of Limerick, Cllr. Gerry McLoughlin on Tuesday last, May 14th.

The northside natives, who are members of Limerick Youth Service’s Ballynanty Garda Youth Diversion Project, triumphed at a recent Soccer/futsal tournament hosted at LYS’s Southside Youth Space, the Factory.

Volunteer Evening & Launch of Ger McDonnell Memorial Cycle

Friday, May 24th promises to be a busy evening for Limerick Youth Serve (LYS) as it hosts a special 40th anniversary gathering for volunteers and launches the Ger McDonnell Memorial Cycle 2013 at the Clarion Hotel, Steamboat Quay, Limerick at 7:30pm.

Mayor of Limerick, Cllr. Gerry McLoughlin, launched Comhairle na nÓg’s booklet ‘Promoting Positive Mental Health in Limerick City: A guide for young people by young people’ at the Absolute Hotel on Thursday last, May 9th.

Awards for King’s Island Youth

There was standing room only at Limerick Youth Service’s Nicholas St Youth Space recently, as sixteen young people from St. Mary’s Park & Lee Estate were honoured for their achievements with King’s Island Garda Youth Diversion Project.

Learners from LYS’s Business Studies programme received certificates in Community Law from Prof Don Barry at the University of Limerick on Friday last.

Community Law is run as part of UL’s Community Education Series, a programme that connects UL to local communities.

Youth Games

West is Best at Youth Games

Newcastlewest Youth Club topped the medal table at last Friday’s county Youth Games as Limerick Youth Service kicked off Youth Work Ireland Week.

Hosted by LYS’s The Factory: Southside Youth Space, Youth Clubs from Ballinagarry, Foynes, Rathkeale and Clonlara completed in soccer and basketball tournaments.

Ballynanty Win Again at Youth Football Tournament

Young people from Ballynanty emerged victorious and retained their title at a Garda Youth Diversion tournament held in Limerick recently.
