Summer in Castleconnell

Orienteering, kayaking, rock climbing, archery and abseiling- it has been a busy start to the summer for young people in Castleconnell.

The teenagers, who are members of Limerick Youth Service’s Castleconnell youth groups, have also enjoyed a trip to Kilkee, football at The Factory Southside Youth Space and an overnight in Kippure, Co. Wicklow.

Pride Youth Party

Celebrating Pride at Lava Javas

Limerick Youth Service (LYS) & GOSHH will host Limerick’s only Pride Youth Party at Lava Javas Youth Cafe, Lr Glentworth St, Limerick on Friday, July 6th (5:30-9pm).
A celebration of the LGBT+ youth community, this year’s Pride Youth Party is open to all young people, regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation or race are invited.

Lob the Cob World Champion

Lob the Cob World Champion and Best Swiss Roll were two of the many accolades achieved by young people from Limerick Youth Service (LYS) at the Alliance of Bakery Students & Trainees (ABST) Conference held at Alton Towers, England recently.

That is the question asked in A Smoker’s Nightmare, a thought provoking short film made by teenage boys from Limerick Youth Service.

Repair Your Rothar at LYS

The Bike Workshop at The Factory Southside Youth Space

As part of the National Bike Week cycling festival, Limerick Youth Service (LYS) will hold two bike repair workshops at The Factory Southside Youth Space and the Northside Youth Space on Monday, June 11th and Thursday, June 14th respectively.

On Yer Bike Class Graduate

There was joyous scenes at the Southside Youth Space recently as eight young people who took part in a bike programme with Limerick Youth Service (LYS), received their Certificates of Achievement from the Metropolitan Mayor, Cllr. Seán Lynch.

LCA Class Raise Funds for Milford

Students with Limerick Youth Service (LYS) presented a cheque for €450 to Milford Care Centre recently after holding a fundraising coffee morning for the Castletroy based facility.

The young people, who are studying their Leaving Cert Applied (LCA) at LYS’ Community Training Centre, Limerick, held the coffee morning at as part of a communications and vocational preparation module.

New Lob the Cob Champions

Liz Byrnes and Jordan Walsh, trainees with Limerick Youth Service’s Bakery Project, were crowned Limerick’s new ‘Lob the Cob’ champions at the regional finals held at the People’s Park, Limerick recently.

Naomi to Intern in Washington DC

Naomi O’Mara, a student at the University of Limerick (UL) and volunteer with Limerick Youth Service (LYS) has been selected to represent Ireland as part of the prestigious Washington Ireland Program for Service and Leadership (WIP).
