Gold for Fedamore at Games
There was gold medal success for Limerick Youth Service (LYS) at the national finals of Youth Work Ireland’s Youth Games held at the University Arena recently, with Fedamore Youth Club’s Arthur O’Donnell winning a highly competitive table tennis tournament.
Table tennis champion Arthur was joined at the finals by his peers from LYS’s Askeaton-Ballysteen, Ballingarry & Broadford youth clubs who took silver in the U15 boys soccer, U15 dodgeball (mixed) and U15 basketball (mixed) respectively.
Arthur, was one of over two hundred young people who took part in basketball, chess, draughts, football, table tennis, dodgeball and a table quiz at the Castletroy venue.
Away from the competition there was face painting and plenty of activities to keep the young, and not so young, entertained on what was another great weekend with Ireland’s youth.
The Youth Games was part of a weekend celebration in Limerick with almost nearly 300 young people enjoying the grand final of the youth factor variety show at LIT’s Millennium Theatre.
Members of Fedamore, Queen of Peace/Janesboro, Cappagh & St. Senan’s/Foynes youth clubs represented LYS on stage at the famed northside venue.
LYS wishes to congratulate Arthur and all the youth clubs on their success and look forward to seeing them at next year’s national finals.
LYS would also like to thank the young people, volunteers, family members, the University Arena, Millennium Theatre and Youth Work Ireland for making the weekend a thoroughly enjoyable event.
The youth games & factor are part of Youth Work Ireland’s national programmes which see thousands of young people coming together to enjoy new experiences, build self-confidence and have fun!
A member of Youth Work Ireland, LYS remains committed to supporting and encouraging young people to be active participants in shaping their futures.
