The Café is a Limerick Youth Service initiative that is funded by Pobail through the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.

A youth café is a lot like other cafes with food and refreshments but it offers so much more! Run by a Youth Café Committee drawn from the young people in the local community, mentored and supported by a full-time café coordinator, the Northside Youth Café provides an exciting, new, drug and alcohol-free space for all the young people in the area between the ages of 14 and 19 years of age.

The Northside Youth Café provides a fun, safe place for the young people in the locality to come and hang out with friends. They can also access information, have fun, enjoy meeting other young people, take part in educational, artistic and recreational programmes and, if they need to, there will be someone there for them to chat to about any worries or concerns they may have.

The Café is a dedicated space where relationships between young people and society, young people and adults, and between young people themselves can be facilitated, nurtured and developed with the aim of creating more positively engaged and well balanced young people.

•    Space to chill out with friends
•    Affordable snacks and drinks
•    Information and advice
•    Music
•    Wide range of extra curricular activities
•    Movie nights
•    Activity evenings

…and much, much more.

Young people from the immediate locality are encouraged to actively participate in the running of the Café.  Our objective is that the Café will contribute to the Northside community in a positive, constructive way and change the image of young people for the better.
