Having fun as part of Limerick Mental Health Awareness Week at Rathkeale Youth Space

As part of the recent Limerick Mental Health Awareness Week, young people at Rathkeale Youth Space hosted a positive youth mental health day and raised much needed funds for Temple St Hospital.

The event, which was organised by members the RK Youth Café, saw young people from across the community take part in various activities including a photo booth, games, make-up demos, bubble wrap races and a dance off with some relaxing in the chill out room.

The event was modelled on Jigsaw’s 5-a-Day for your mental health which promotes five key points-Connect, Get Active, Notice, Get Involved & Give, as importance ways in which a person can look after their mental health.

‘We had a great turnout and the staff at Rathkeale Youth Space were delighted to see the young people getting involved,’ said Michelle Allen, Limerick Youth Service adding ‘we are very proud of the Youth Café members for organising such a successful event.’

‘On the day the young people raised €68 and decided to donate to the money to Temple Street Children’s Hospital,’ said a very proud Michelle.

Michelle thanked the young people, Limerick Youth Service, Jigsaw, Limerick Mental Health Association and the community for making the one day event for such a success.

Based on Abbey Court, Rathkeale Youth Space is a part of Limerick Youth Service and home to the delivery of youth work in the West Limerick area.

A member of Youth Work Ireland, Limerick Youth Service remains committed to supporting and encouraging young people to be active participants in shaping their futures.
